RWAHT ORIN
ASTRAE | HETEROSEXUAL |
TWENTY NINE | KNIGHT CAPTAIN |
personality
Someone with a very generous ability to overlook personality flaws would say that Rwaht is a little bit serious and has a hard time relating to people. Someone with no such compunction would probably call him downright creepy. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Rwaht is extremely introspective, and blessed with an almost preternatural sense of calm; while the former makes him an excellent Knight, the previous quality is not among his most endearing towards his peers. However, if Rwaht notices the discomfort with which many of his fellow knights regard him, he is utterly unconcerned: Rwaht tends to keep his own counsel and answer to no one except his superior officers. Even during a reprimand, Rwaht makes few apologies for any of his actions.
Rwaht’s innate sense of confidence and his contemplative nature tend to be a double edged sword: while those who like him tend to like him a lot, those who hate him really hate him, and he does himself few favours by ignoring the opinions of either group. However, while Rwaht does usually keep his own counsel, in actual fact he has a strong sense of honor and, perhaps more surprisingly, an equally strong sense of empathy.

COMPETENCY EVALUATION: Rwaht Orin
EVALUATING OFFICER: Major Haestrom, Doctor of Magic, Institute of Technology
EVALUATION DATE: [REDACTED]
PURPOSE OF EVALUATION: Promotion
I, Major Haestrom, have for three weeks been evaluating the public and closed records with respect to Knight Lieutenant Rwaht Orin. I shall summarize my findings in brief here.
Lieutenant Orin joined the knights at the age of 15, at the time lying about his age. Despite being younger than his classmates, Lieutenant Orin performed admirably throughout basic training and demonstrated an affinity for both swordplay and magical combat. Upon reaching the legal admittance age of 17, the then-Knight Corporal Orin disclosed his own military dishonesty and submitted himself to punishment. His initial court-martial sentencing of dishonorable discharge was reduced to a suspension in rank and six months’ service in the Knight-Prisoners’ Brigade, hereafter referred to by their common name, the Violators. During his time in the Violators then-Private Orin distinguished himself in frontline combat in the minor rebellions which occurred from [REDACTED] to [REDACTED] in [REDACTED]. In the final month of his service with the Violators, then-Private Orin successfully de-escalated a dangerous civilian incident in the Lower Quarter without resorting to violence.
Upon his re-instatement, he was immediately recommended for promotion to Knight Corporal, which was confirmed on [REDACTED] following his defense of a merchant ship travelling between Hangman’s Harbour and Hamlet. Subsequent promotions to Knight Sergeant and Knight Lieutenant taking place over the next [REDACTED] years typically involved similar actions defending Imperial citizens from criminals, or in the de-escalation of potentially riotous incidents. Typically, Knight Lieutenant Orin has avoided actual military conflicts, with the exception of his service among the Violators.
Lieutenant Orin has displayed considerable individual prowess in combat, as well as diplomatic skill. However, his ability to command the loyalty of common Knights is questionable. He has been reported by his superiors to be found “unnerving” and difficult to relate to; Lieutenant Orin spends little time among his fellow Knights, and is almost never seen engaging in typical recreational activities. There is also the matter of Lieutenant Orin’s residence: while his salary should produce a reasonably comfortable dwelling in the Upper Quarter, Lieutenant Orin has not moved from his residence in the Lower Quarter which he has dwelled in since his enrollment in the Knights. When queried, Knights who have served with Lieutenant Orin report that he spends most of his leave time in the Lower Quarter. This behavior is not in keeping with the public image of the Imperial Knights.
However, Lieutenant Orin has never displayed any outward signs of insurrection (aside from his early enlistment, mentioned earlier) and has been by all accounts a level-headed and steadfast Knight. I am forced to tentatively endorse Lieutenant Orin’s promotion to the rank of Knight Captain, with the caveat that his file be flagged for frequent review.
